Back from vacation

Wow, what a week. Spent the last seven days visiting Sacramento, Ohio, Kentucky, and Las Vegas. Got to see my SF Giants beat the Reds in Cincinnati, spent time with family I hadn't seen in years, and said goodbye to one of my best friends as he heads off to fight the war in Iraq. Also, I didn't check my email once - just the way vacations are supposed to be spent.

In the meantime there's lots of catching up to do. Normal posting will resume this week...

Thanks fellas. It was nice - didn't touch a computer once. But boy is it hard to keep up with the blogosphere...

Tell your friend to stay safe. And, nice that you were actually able to not check email.

It was hard and it was weird. All you can really talk about is when we'll speak next, when he'll come home, or what we will do after he gets home.

I gave him a journal as a present to take over there and told him to document his experience. I wanted him to feel as if he was embarking on an experience and a challenge of a lifetime - one that I will never have the guts to face and one that he should be proud of, because in reality he's witnessing history and experiencing a time in his life that he will share with people forever.
